WordPress 6.0 has been released overnight. This is the first major release for WordPress for 2022.
This major release is named “Arturo” after the Grammy-winning jazz musician Arturo O’Farrill. Arturo is known for his influence on contemporary Latin jazz. He is the son of the late, great Chico O’Farrill.

The WordPress 6.0 release contains nearly 1,000 enhancements and bug fixes. Most of these you probably won’t even notice, but you can find out more about the improvements here on the WordPress 6.0 news release. Highlights of enhanced or new WordPress 6.0 features include:
WordPress.org has also released a brief overview video for WordPress 6.0. Plus there is a WordPress 6.0 field guide for developers that has a lot more technical information.
If you currently have a site manager by us (BSharp Tech), then we will be planning for an upgrade to WordPress 6 over the coming weeks. We usually don’t rush straight into a new major release on day 0, as we like to be sure there are no major issues before upgrading such as plugin incompatibilities – though most popular plugins will already be updated to include support for WordPress 6.0.
Stay tuned for more information.
If you don’t have a WordPress site or have one and have no idea how to upgrade to WordPress 6, then feel free to contact us to discuss support and maintenance for your site.
