What is Website Crawling?

This is the process by which search engine bots (or spiders) systematically browse the internet to collect information about each website. Crawling involves scanning sites and gathering details about each page — its key content, relevant keywords, links, and more. This information is used to create a search engine index. The speed and efficiency of website crawling can be influenced by various factors, including the site’s structure, its technical SEO aspects, and the use of a sitemap. Properly optimised sites allow bots to crawl them more effectively, improving their chances of achieving better search engine rankings.
